The universe is once again smiling on humanity, as starting today, August 7th, the Museum of Moving Image will feature an exhibit devoted entirely to Internet Cats.
How Cats Took Over the Internet will occupy the Manhattan gallery and video screening amphitheater until January of next year. The exhibit, organized by Jason Eppink, aims to examine exactly how and why cats have managed to dominate the interwebs.
Culture aficionados have been legitimizing cat’s global domination recently with cat film festivals and fancy cat cafes, but this is the first time a museum has created a physical presence for felines within their walls (shout out to Meow MET for their cat-chrome browser).
The exhibit’s website also mentioned some deeper stuff about anthropomorphism and scientific attempts to expose this “deceptively frivolous” pass time of watching cat videos instead of writing your TPS reports, but seriously…lolcats, celebrity cats, cat videos, cat memes…CATS.
The exhibit is open Wednesdays through Sundays, so hurry there…
It will be a wild party…
And you can boogie down with your friends…
See ya there!
Are you a sour puss and not into cats? The Museum of Moving Images has plenty of less furry exhibits, check out else is currently on view.
