Swedish artist Daniel Egnéus has spent the greater part of his life traveling the world’s most metropolitan cities: Prague, London, Berlin, Bologna, Rome, Milano, and now, Athens.
His ink and watercolor illustrations frequently depict detailed and lively cityscapes from his travels, a style which he has coined the name “Quotidiano-Straordinario” (which loosely translates to “Daily Extraordinary”).
He views everyday life and art as one inseparable whole, creating vibrant almost lucid illusions of urban life.
The approachable nature of Egnéus’ style has lead to countless collaborations with clients such as Haagen-Dazs, BMW, Pepsi Cola, Playboy, and Time Magazine (just to name a few). Within the last few years he has also illustrated many books like Harper Collins’ The Little Red Riding Hood and The Hot Dog-Cook Book (which won the Prix Gourmand for “Best Illustrated Cookbook in France”). Depending on your engagement with the art scene, you may also recognize his work from the five-day live drawing installation he did at Art Basel Miami in 2009.
Beginning on September 10th, “Colorful Beetles” will be available for purchase at the Affordable Art Fair. The mid-sized silkscreen can appeal to seasoned or novice collectors alike, as the colors and theme easily lend themselves to any collection. Though some of his works are rather whimsical, many carry a more ominous tone that make for timeless works of art. Egnéus has managed to garner a fairly large following for an illustrator, which speaks to his universally appealing style. Follow him on social media to keep up with his current and past projects or stop by the fair September 10-13th.
