San Francisco based painter Robert Xavier Burden can be one of the millions of Star Wars fans in the world; however his way of paying homage to the science fiction classic is different than most fans. The 20th Century Space Opera is the title of his 15 foot by 8 foot oil on canvas painting that features his depictions of Star Wars characters along with other influential figures for SW trilogies, such as Yul Brynner, Joseph Campbell or Flash Gordon. Inspired by Eastern tapestries that are special to countries such as Morocco or Iran, the artwork took Burden 2000 hours to complete in almost 18 months. Valued at a $200.000 price tag and waiting to be exhibited at Star Wars Celebration in California, The 20th Century Space Opera is among Burden’s other science fiction inspired works of art.
