Perhaps following in the footsteps of Kanye West, Shia LaBeouf took another stab at the art world by collaborating with art students at Central Saint Martins University to create the video work INTRODUCTIONS. The piece shows Shia in front of a green screen performing 36 half-minute long vignettes introducing the works of the graduating class of the Fine Arts BA program at Central Saint Martins University.
Student were asked to send LaBeouf a text or set of instructions for LeBeouf to perform introducing their work, be it literal poetic or totally off the wall. LaBeouf interprets the directions of the St. Martins students with a wry sensibility and a blend of humor and commitment. To complete the collaboration, during the live streaming event, the students added whatever images they saw fit to the green screen. Notable moments of enjoyment in INTRODUCTIONS include Lebeouf’s overzealous motivational speech and his neck-beard.

This is not LaBeouf’s first fore into the world of performance art. Last year he wore a paper bag over his head in an art gallery for the piece #IAMSORRY. He also ran 144 laps around the Stedelijk museum in Amsterdam in the piece #METAMARATHON as well as live-streaming his heartbeat on the Internet for the sake of art. Notable moments of enjoyment in INTRODUCTIONS include Lebeouf’s overzealous motivational speech and his neck-beard.
