Unless you’ve been in a heavy coma, you’ve probably caught wind that the notorious street artist Banksy has just opened his latest spectacle, Dismaland, in North Somerset, England. As of now, everyone in America knows the same facts and have seen the same photos, because unfortunately you cannot gain access to the “bemusement park” unless you have a utility bill proving your residency of small town Weston-super-Mare, close to where Banksy grew up in Bristol.
Banksy has been quoted describing his site-specific installation as a “family theme park unsuitable for children.” With the help of 50 other well-known artists, such as Damien Hirst, Jenny Holzer, Pure Evil, and David Shrigley, this humongous critique on media-obsessed Western civilization and consumer culture is truly a fascinating manifestation for the contemporary art world.
We would love to be there as much as everyone else, but until then, here are some of the latest #Dismaland Instagrams.
How any of these people managed to get a clean photo (without other people in the frame also taking photos), is beyond me. Stay tuned for more photos!
