Depending on your allegiance (or apathy) towards popular TV series, you experienced some range of emotions from the outcome of Sunday night’s Emmy awards. Though there were plenty of ground breaking wins, it came as a surprise to some when Game of Thrones won best drama (in addition to basically every other award possible). This shouldn’t be too shocking if you consider the 8 million weekly views, the revolution it has caused in the world of video streaming, or the number of relationships spawned from a mutual appreciation for the show (“We’re such Lanisters, aren’t we honey?”).
But for those of you glued to your laptop screen alone in bed, you’re likely a fan of living vicariously through the characters’ tumultuous, steamy romances and scuffles. At minimum, you’ve at least wondered what they would be like if they were dating in the modern world.
New York-based digital artist, Ashley Nawn, did just that when she created her satirical series of fictional Fake Tinder Profiles Tinder profiles of the most popular characters on Game of Thrones. While the dating app has been the focal point of many art series that comment on modern relationships, Nawn’s works are clearly done playfully with tongue fully in cheek.
Nawn digitally rendered the minimalist portraits into the Tinder-profile layout and included some of the character’s more memorable or defining quotes. She also used their personality traits to form popular Tinder user stereotypes, like Daenerys as that hot S&M chick or Tyrion as the sleazy cheating husband. It’s lively, it’s clever, and totally worthy of a lunch break web browse. Check out the rest of Nawn’s portfolio to see her works of Chewbacca, Back to the Future, and other Star Wars characters.
