What is a banana good for? Making smoothies or putting in your oatmeal? For the Rotterdam based Dutch artist and designer Stephan Brusche bananas mean more than just good source of calcium and Vitamin B. What started as an experiment with a ballpoint pen and a banana peel turned into a series of ‘banana’ works that the Dutch artist actively shares on his Instagram page. After experimenting with ballpoint pens, the Dutch artist extended his technique and started carving into the peels. Although Brusche’s thematic interests span from popular culture to everyday objects, he pays tribute to art history as well, recreating Gustave Klimt’s The Kiss or Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam in his own ‘yellow’ way. Working on a limited surface that has a very specific form, Brusche pushes the limits of creativity and practical thinking.
