An icon of bohemia, artistic patronage and style; Peggy Guggenheim remains as one of the most influential figures attached to Modern art. Directed by Lisa Immordino Vreeland who is known for 2011‘s Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel, Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict sheds a light on this legendary figure’s legacy.
Born into a wealthy New York family as the daughter of Benjamin Guggenheim who died on the Titanic and the niece of Solomon R. Guggenheim, the founder of some of the most groundbreaking museums in the world; Peggy diverged from the norms of her time, not only as a young woman but also as an admirer of a form of art that was then underestimated. The modernist movement that had its inception in the cafés of Paris attracted the young heiress who had already moved into the city to pursue an avant-garde lifestyle, and soon she was among a group of bohemians that included names such as Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray and Constantin Brâncusi.
The documentary had its New York premiere in Tribeca Film Festival this past April.
